At the Agnostic Front show on Sunday at the Ethical Humanist Society, a drunk 33 year old “man” came outside in a rage because he lost his glasses and decided to tear down this sign, as well as smash someone’s windshield and break a number of car antennas and windshield wipers.
The cost of damages for JUST the sign come out to almost $4,000. We do know who did the crime, but we have a strong feeling that he is not going to pay for this. And even if he does pay, there is a big chance that EHS is going to stop letting shows happen there. This is not the first time that there has been damage to the building, but this is by far the most serious problem that has occurred. We have been on thin ice before with the EHS, and many times I was told I could not book shows there, but I always managed to figure out a way to convince them to let us stay. This time, if they don’t let us back, it could be permanent.
Just in the past few years, HUNDREDS of bands have played EHS and thousands have entered it’s doors. Just a few of the big bands that come to mind are Crime In Stereo, The Ghost Inside, Trapped Under Ice, Backtrack, Foundation, Tigers Jaw, Transit, Balance and Composure, Agnostic Front, Skarhead, The Story So Far and tons more. Metal, ska, rock, hardcore, punk and indie shows have all happened at this building and since summer of 2009, it has been one of my personal favorite venues to put shows on at and I think a favorite among everyone on Long Island and the bands that have played here.
There’s a few ways you can help to keep shows happening at EHS. Please read carefully:
-I have set up a paypal account and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to EHS. Any amount of money helps out. Please send donations to this paypal address:
EHSbenefitfund@gmail.com
-Send an e-mail to the EHS directly. Explain to them how much the EHS means to you and why you think it should stay open. They will 100% read your email and it goes a long way. A few people have already emailed them, and they have told me that it means a ton. The email address for them is:
office@ehsli.org
-Spread the word! A reblog on here, or sharing the link to facebook/twitter/instagram, also helps a lot.
In closing…
Let’s prove to the world why the Long Island music community is the best in the country and convince the EHS that one dumb ass does not represent our community as a whole.
DEED BEFORE CREED!

The tremendous support that everyone is giving is amazing. A few people have sent me the emails they sent to EHS and I am really blown away. I hope that others are doing the same! A few quick sentences goes a VERY long way. Thank you so much.
